Autodesk's Plot Stamp Utility for AutoCAD® 2000 and ADT 2.0

If you are looking for a simple Plot Stamp Utility, you can download one directly from Autodesk at the following URL: http://www.autodesk.com/support/autocad/util2000.htm

It comes as a ZIP file that contains two files that you will need to copy into your AutoCAD ../Support directory.  When you load AutoCAD, this ARX program will then be automatically loaded and as long as "plot with plot stamp" is checked, it will produce a stamp on your printed drawings.

To activate the Plot Stamp dialogue (illustration, right) box in AutoCAD, type "plotstamp" on the command line.

The illustration to the right (see red cloud) shows an example of how the Plot Stamp Utility can place valuable file information on a printed drawing.  In fact, this sheet is a reduction of an actual FAX that was printed directly out of AutoCAD via Winfax Pro.  Information includes such items as directory location, file name, printing date, printing time and printer type.  As per the illustration above, right, you can include other pieces of information, even a comment.

Plot Stamp will also keep a log of your prints if you want to track what you print and when it was done.

If you are seeking more sophisticated plot tracking, then look at some of the offerings at shareware sites - see our Hall of Doors.
